If you decided to have your picture taken by a Portrait Studio.Beware is all I can convey to you. Did you know that they have you sign away your rights to the portrait? its very clever usually concealed in small fine print but rest assured its there .
What this means is they can sell your image for any magazine or book for any subject and not only do you get no compensation you have no control as to what subject that they place your photo at or in.This first came to my attention when I read something an Enquirer type newspaper. It had a picture of a couple on their wedding day in 1948 and they headline read … I left my wife for a man and sad to say once you sign there is nothing in Gods name that you can do about it.Both bim and his wife were beyond embaraced
..He called his Atorney and was told that his ownership was null and voided when he signed the Photographers Contract. The news publication randomly picked out his wedding picture to go with that storyline.Sad to say that it was all done abovee board.
So I urge everyone to look closely when you go to your next portrait Studio and cross off that stipulation.Chances are they will still sell your image but in reality you’ll never catch them doing it because it most likely will end up in foreign publications …So Beware /end
