ON SUNDAY DECEMBER 6TH 2009, AT 23 YEARS OLD I HAD MY BAT MITZVAH

.AFTER I RETURNED FROM MY BIRTHRIGHT TRIP IN ISRAEL, I WAS TOLD OF AN ORGANIZATION CALLED THE JEC THAT HAD AN OFFICE IN MANHATTAN RIGHT ON 14TH STREET WHERE I CAN CONTINUE TO PARTICIPATE IN JEWISH EVENTS. I TOOK SOME HEBREW CLASSES AS WELL AS VOLUNTEERED FOR FOOD DRIVES FOR ELDERLY JEWISH RESIDENTS OF NY. ALTHOUGH I ENJOYED ALL THE DIFFERENT THINGS I INVOLVED MYSELF IN WITH THE JEC, MY MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE WAS MY BAT MITZVAH.THE CLASSES WERE HELD WEEKLY FOR 2 MONTHS, 2 1/2HRS A CLASS ABOUT 25 PEOPLE LARGE AND LEAD BY RABBI LAWRENCE. WE WERE PROVIDED WITH THE JEWISH BIBLE AND LEARNING MATERIALS. RABBI LAWRENCE WAS INCREDIBLY FUNNY AND A GREAT TEACHER. WE LEFT OUR CLASSES WITH LAUGHS AND HOMEWORK/STUDY. HE WASN’T AS INTERESTED IN LECTURING US ABOUT RELIGION AS HE WAS ABOUT OUR JEWISH HERITAGE WHICH I REALLY APPRECIATED.EACH CLASS INVOLVED AN HOUR OF HEBREW READING AND THEN FOCUSED ON A PARTICULAR TOPIC: JEWISH HISTORY, HOLIDAYS, SHABBAT, UNDERSTANDING GOOD “MIDOT”, EVEN PARTICAPATING IN A FAUX JEWISH WEDDING! WE HAD A COUPLE OF OFF-SITE CLASSES AS WELL, ONE WAS AT THE JEWISH CENTER ON THE UPPER WEST SIDE WITH RABBI HIRT WHERE WE LEARNED ALL ABOUT THE TORAH.ON THE FINAL CEREMONY DAY, MY BAT MITZVAH!,, WE ALL GATHERED WITH OUR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS AT SYNAGOGUE THAT WAS CATERED VERY NICELY FOR THE EVENT. THERE WERE OVER 100 PEOPLE THERE, ONE OF THE ATTENDANTS WAS MICHAEL STEINHARDT WHO IS ONE OF THE FOUNDERS AND DONORS OF BIRTHRIGHT ISRAEL. EACH ONE OF US PREPARED A SPEECH ABOUT OUR INTERPRETATION ABOUT A PARTICULAR VERSE FROM THE JEWISH BIBLE, MY SPEECH WAS BASED OFF BHA’ALOTCHA (NUMBERS 8-12).

The experience is one I will never forget and I’m forever grateful to the JEC and Birthright for allowing me this opportunity to have a Bat Mitzvah and learn more about my Jewish heritage.]

Between a period of 1870 to 1923 immigration to America was mostly by Jews coming from every Eastern European Country, followed by Italy, so we believe that there are at least as many Jews as White Christians in America and the figures just don’t add up

Blessings before Haftarah and after Click open link in new tab The Antiquated Hebrew Language Teaching system that is place now in all Hebrew Schools and Chaders must go and make way for a new language course.When one goes to Hebrew they read Hebrew Phonetically in other words they learn the alphabet and can read write, and pronounce it but haven’t the slightest clue as what they are saying .We Think its high time that the same course method used in Chinese Greek Polish languge schools be used in all Hebrew schools outside of Israel now, I personal know people of Greek Background born in the U.S .A of American English speaking parents and go to Greek school at lets say 5 years old and learn it as a living speak able language same goes for Chinese and Polish. This system must become the curriculum in all Hebrew schools soon. end

(Note to my non-Jewish friends: the “Shmah” is one of the holiest of Prayers. It translates to “Hear, oh Israel, the Lord our G-d, the Lord is one.”) Also recently learned that if a Torah scribe makes a mistake while creating a Torah he can correct the mistake unless the mistake is in the word for G-d, in which case the entire torah must be scrapped because the name of G-d must never be erased. The Torah must be buried in a Jewish cemetery.

What is The Commercial Kars For Kids really about? Is it a scam ? is it Phony Charity? What is that catchy lyric is is actually misleading?

Our research at the Lerman Report. Com shows that it is owned by A Chasidic Jewish group
Cars donated through Kars4Kids (click) actually go to the Lakewood, N.J.-based nonprofit JOY for Our Youth, which uses the catchier Kars4Kids name in its fundraising efforts. This in our opinion is misleading and borders on a scam and if it is so gives Traditional Jews a bad name from actions stemming from someone from the Chasidic Community.
